I am a husband, father of three adult children and one dog. I like to read, play tennis, ski and teach religious school.
My background begins on the client side at General Mills and Ralston Purina before I moved into data-driven marketing consulting. I founded LiftPoint Consulting 15 years ago to meet a clear marketing need (too many data sources and too little practical insight) in a firm that exemplified my values of client service, commitment to the success of our individual clients in an environment that is flexible and empowering to our staff.

Over the past nearly 30 years, I’ve worked in private banking, consulting, and marketing. A theme throughout has been helping clients succeed. That could be through better consumer insights, or creating an ecommerce group, or restructuring a global investment portfolio. Before, during and after helping found the company, I have done a fair amount of M&A, private banking, venture capital and private equity. I also am on the advisory boards of several technology and medical device companies. I am also the former Chairman of a software firm and former Vice Chairman at the Fairview Foundation.

For the past 22 years I have been telling stories with data and building predictive models to solve all sorts of business problems. I’ve told those stories as the head of analytics departments at two Fortune 500 companies and two marketing agencies. Statistics, predictive modeling and machine learning are my calling cards.
I’ve worked with data in both B2C and B2B arenas, analyzing strategies such as CRM, loyalty programs and direct mail, while managing experts in modeling, media data, surveys and business intelligence. ICF Olson, Deluxe Corporation, Advance Auto Parts, Best Buy and Bluestem Brands have been my professional homes.
While my business life is Minnesota-based, my roots are in Iowa. My BS/MS (both in Statistics) are from Iowa State University in Ames, IA.
I’m happily married with three growing sons, who cooperatively let me coach their basketball teams.

I have a Bachelors of Arts in Public Administration & Russian Studies from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I have an MBA in Marketing from St. Thomas University in Minneapolis, MN. I love developing insights which help companies take their business to the next level.
