Reporting & Visualization
Our Scientists Love All Things Data,
Our data science team gets giddy at the prospect of transforming your information from disparate sources, and dirty data, into one comprehensive, interactive report. They’ll take time exploring your data, categorizing fields, and organizing data points to create the best foundation for your reports & visualizations.
But They’re Also Artists, Who Can Show Your Data in a New Way
Data mining, statistical analysis, trend identification – these are just a few of the things we do behind the scenes with your data. Then we start painting the picture. Whether it’s something simplistic like a bubble diagram, bar charts, or a scatter plot; or something more complex like heat maps, network diagrams, or radius charts – our data scientists have experience in designing them all. We strive to create easy-to-read visuals that offer new insights into your data that you wouldn’t have seen in a spreadsheet.
Highlighting Opportunity You Never Knew Existed
The purpose of data visualization isn’t pretty pictures, it’s actionable insight. Whether it’s a trend to encourage, a behavior to change, or a tweak to make to marketing campaigns, our data science team develops recommendations for improving performance across the board. We’ve all heard the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Well in this case, the words are pretty important too.
Combine Data Sources into a Comprehensive, Interactive Report
Quickly Answer Specific Business Questions Using Data
Easily Identify Trends & Changes in Customer Behavior
Uncover Unknown Characteristics of Your Customers & Business
We begin with the end in mind – a visual to explain customer behavior, an interactive dashboard that offers a 50,000 foot view of business performance, a summary report with varying degrees of granularity – and then go back to the start: the blueprint.
Our teams spend time mining your data – identifying sources, mapping fields, and QAing data entries – to create a sturdy foundation for your reporting/visualizations. Then we start outlining requirements: How often should the report/visual be updated? Where will the content be stored and shared? What levels of access are needed? Are data relationships and data stitching key considerations? How interactive should the content be? Does the content need to integrate with an existing system or platform? (There’s a lot more questions we ask, but won’t bore you with them here).
Once we have everything in black and white (well, really in blue because it is a blueprint after all), we put on our artist hats and begin designing.
Exceptional reporting design is much more than having fancy charts and detailed tables. It’s about understanding what’s important to the success of the business and effectively delivering the right data and insights, to the right people, at the right time, in a meaningful way. In order to achieve that goal, we focus on the key elements of reporting design: visual and technical/data.
Now it’s time to get creative. After familiarizing ourselves with your data, we get together as a team and brainstorm design. The design is based on an understanding of the audience that will be consuming the information and taking action.
Reports & visualizations should spark conversation and trigger action, so we draw endlessly on our whiteboard walls, making sure we achieve that result through our design. Whether designing a customer profile, showing trends in revenue performance, or depicting results by geographic location – we completely customize your design to fit your business needs.
Not only that, we design beyond the picture. We get down to the color scheme (we’ll match brand guidelines), labels, size, and highlights.
Technical & Data Design
Then we put our data hats back on and get technical. We develop relationship diagrams for your data and data sources, map them to the graphs, and identify parameters or calculations that will be used throughout the process. Then we layer in filters – the user experience functionality that allows you to drill down deeper into your data.
We also design the technical experience. From access levels and granularity levels to software integration and sharing across your organization, we want your report/visualization to be as informative and useful as possible.
Now it’s time to put pen to paper (well really, data to BI tool).
During our configuration process we:
- Build visuals
- Integrate data
- QA functionality, data rendering, labels, filters & drill downs etc.
- Export to desired format & location (cloud, packaged workbooks, pre-built powerpoint presentations etc.)
- Layer in storyboarding and advanced analytics to further strengthen reporting/visualizations
Once the content is configured, we walk through sharing procedures – whether you subscribe to a report, receive monthly emails, or schedule monthly review meetings – we make sure your team receives the analysis when they need it.
Now for the pièce de résistance – insights and recommendations.
Our team leverages a combination of storyboarding techniques and advanced analytics, to drill down into your data and find exactly where your opportunities are. Together, we’ll walk through the high-level trends and patterns (the big picture), then we’ll dive into those lower-level opportunities, and how you can take advantage of them to impact your bottom line and improve your ROI.
Then we discuss how to implement recommendations, and what tracking will look like to measure the impact of each of them. We’ll also review your “refresh timeline” – how often your reports and visuals are updated, and share all data documentation with you so know what data, calculations, parameters, and sources were used.
Our team updates your reports/visuals at whatever cadence suits your needs – weekly, monthly, annually.
We start with data refreshes, making sure all data points are as up-to-date as possible. Then we revaluate for changes in trends, patterns, and insights – making sure to focus on the impact of implemented changes, trends in your consumer behavior, and any newly uncovered opportunities.

Problems We Solve
Our clients face a broad range of challenges. Below we have listed some of the most common ones, and high-level approaches to addressing them. If you’re facing something that isn’t listed, feel free to contact a member of our leadership team.
We don't have a holistic view of our business performance.
Not knowing how you’re performing makes it very difficult to find ways to change and improve. Enter LiftPoint.
Our teams excel at creating dashboards that offer at-a-glance views of KPIs and allow you to interact with your data, digging as deep or staying as high-level as you’d prefer.
We start with your revenue metrics, and break out from there – whether it’s by location, by engagement metric, by campaign send, by customer segment, the possibilities are endless. But you’ll always have an idea of how you’re performing, and ways you can improve.
We're not sure we're looking at the right metrics.
With the overwhelming amount of data companies are collecting – through online interactions, in-store purchases, and marketing campaign engagement – it’s no wonder the vast majority don’t know what to look at. Well, that’s where we come in.
When we design your reporting and dashboards, we start with what questions you want answered. Do you want to know how your overall business is performing? Want to monitor the size of your customer base – whether and how you are adding or losing customers? Need incremental email measurement? Want to determine whether or not your loyalty program is effective? Trust us, the list goes on and on (and on).
Once we know what the purposes of your reporting are, we identify which metrics align with your KPIs. We look at descriptive and predictive metrics to help you understand the your business landscape, and what changes you can implement to improve performance and your overall ROI.
Our current reports take too long to build and/or update.
Not to toot our own horn or anything, but we’re pretty awesome at fixing this problem.
Our data science team has in-depth experience with a variety of BI tools (such as Tableau and Qlik) that not only automate your reporting, but layer in levels of analysis, granularity, and detail that most manual reports can’t achieve – giving you more up-to-date reports much, much faster.
Not only will we use state-of-the-art tools, but we know how to design your data structure and index the information to make the reports as quickly as possible.
Our data is too hard to read. We need visuals.
A vast majority of companies are looking for some visual representation of their data that offers an at-a-glance view of performance, detailed customer segment profiles, and a gauge of year-to-date revenue – while escaping the land of boring, hard-to-read spreadsheets.
Well, it’s a good thing our data scientists can find the beauty in everything – even those spreadsheets. They’ll spend time really getting to know your data, and understanding what it is you want to depict. Then they’ll create customized visuals and dashboards that tell the story you’ve been looking for. Goodbye spreadsheets, hello beautiful pictures.
